Dr. Temidayo Daniel Adeniyi

Medical Laboratory Science
Dr. Temidayo Daniel Adeniyi is a Senior Lecturer in the Histopathology and Cytopathology Unit, Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, University of Ilorin, Nigeria, and currently serves as the Acting Head of the Department. He has over sixteen years of experience in university teaching, research, and academic administration across four Nigerian universities. He holds a Ph.D. in Histopathology and Neuropathology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and is a Fellow of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (FMLSN), the West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory Science (FWACMLS), and the Institute of Biomedical Science (FIBMS).
His research lies at the intersection of histopathology, toxicology, and molecular science, with particular emphasis on the mechanisms underlying tissue injury induced by environmental toxicants, including heavy metals, pesticides, and industrial and vehicular emissions. A major focus of his research is the investigation of Nigerian medicinal plants as potential therapeutic and protective agents against toxicant-induced tissue damage. His work increasingly integrates molecular and genomic approaches, including oxidative-stress profiling and gene-expression analysis, to elucidate the mechanisms of tissue injury and therapeutic response. He is currently developing a complementary research direction exploring Nigerian medicinal plant resources for cell-line-based cancer therapeutic discovery.
Dr. Adeniyi has authored or co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, four book chapters published by international academic publishers, including IGI Global and IntechOpen, and two laboratory training manuals. He is a recipient of a TETFund Institutional-Based Research Grant (2024) and contributes actively to academic governance and institutional development through his service on the Departmental and Faculty Boards of Studies. His academic career reflects a sustained commitment to excellence in teaching, innovative research, mentorship, professional service, and the advancement of Medical Laboratory Science education and practice.
